NATO has procured AI systems for shared institutions. Allied Command Operations acquired Palantir’s Maven Smart System in March 2025; in November, NCIA selected Google’s air-gapped Distributed Cloud for the Joint Analysis, Training and Education Centre. AUKUS trials reported in August 2024 tested shared AI models on uncrewed aircraft. DIANA funds and supports dual-use technology companies, while the NATO Innovation Fund invests in startups under a mandate of at least €1 billion over 15 years.
